Scar removal
· updated July 4, 2026
Scars can occur for various reasons: Surgery, Injury, Weight loss, acne and much more. Unfortunately, there is no miracle procedure yet that will make a scar disappear completely. However, there are treatments to make a scar less noticeable. These include:
Microdermabrasion: A technician uses an electrical dermabrasion machine to remove the top layers of skin. This process gives the skin a smoother surface. Dermabrasion is used for treating acne scars, pockmarks, some surgical scars, or minor irregularities.
Laser Scar Revision: Another method of improving scars is laser scar removal. High-energy light is used to treat damaged skin. Different lasers are available for treating a variety of scars. For example: IPL, Fractional laser and Fotona Scar Removal.
Fillers: There are injectable substances such as hyaluronic acid, that is used to treat indented soft scars.
Chemical Peels: This procedure uses a chemical to remove the top layer of the skin and smooth depressed scars. It is most helpful for superficial scars.
Microneedling: Also called collagen induction therapy (CIT), and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI), involves making large numbers of punctures into the scarred area using needles. The devices used can be pen-like or needle encrusted rollers, used under topical anaesthesia. The punctures are repaired by the body’s natural healing process of skin proliferation producing collagen and elastin to plug the wounds, which can reduce the appearance of the scar. This treatment is used for most types of scar.
PRP: Prior to treatment a simple blood sample is extracted from the patient. This blood is immediately placed in the centrifuge for 15 minutes. When centrifugation is complete your plasma will be separated from your red blood cells. The rich platelets are extracted from the base of the plasma gel. The platelets are injected into the deep dermis or fat layer of the skin. Platelets gradually increase collagen which can increase skin thickness and overall health of the skin. PRP is often combined with other scar removal treatments such as fractional laser and chemical peels.
Mesotherapy: A cosmetic medicine treatment which employs multiple injections of pharmaceutical and homeopathic medications, plant extracts, vitamins, and other active ingredients directly into the dermis, depending on the indication.
Results vary from person to person and are not guaranteed. Nothing here is medical advice — book a consultation and we will look at your case.
